Traveling by air is the easiest way to go but it can also be the most expensive way. There are Georgia flight deals to be had if you know what you’re doing and if you follow a few simple steps:

  • Traveling in a group can save you money. Some airlines offer group booking discounts.
  • Book your flight early to get a great deal. Once you know your departure date start looking for flights, if you’re ahead of the game you’ll find some pretty decent deals.
  • Book your flights late. If you have some flexibility in when you leave booking a flight at the last minute is usually not as expensive as booking a couple of weeks out. Be carefully with this tactic though, you never know if there will be seats available, you don’t know if you’ll be able to get the right number of seats, and you won’t necessarily be able to fly on the date you were hoping.
  • Flying at night sometimes allows you to find lower flight fees.
  • Flying on certain days of the week such as Tuesday and Thursday frequently result in lower fees. There are less business travelers on planes those days. Friday and Sunday travel are frequently the most expensive as leisure travelers are flying.
  • Adding a stop during your flight will sometimes result in a lower overall flight cost than traveling nonstop.
  • Flying into and out of smaller airports instead of the busier more crowded ones has two advantages, less people and sometimes lower rates.
  • Join the club. Many airlines have frequent flyer programs or loyalty programs which will offer special discounts and deals to members.
  • Check travel websites. Most of these sites will allow you to view several airline prices at once. Prices change frequently so when you see a good price grab it! However, be sure to read all the fine print for any additional fees they might tack on.
  • Set up email alerts with travel websites so that you will be notified when specials and discounted tickets are being offered.
  • If you are a student or a senior watch for discounted prices.
  • Don’t take your whole closet when you travel. With all the additional fees for baggage these days your baggage fee can cost more than the plane ticket. Be conservative and try to take only what you really need for the trip.
  • If you’ve booked your flight and fares go down ask for a refund. Beware some airlines will charge a flight change fee which will nullify any savings so be sure to get all the information before going through with it.
